About LaDawn

LaDawn Quarter Horses Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering the local community the opportunity to take part in a program that offers therapeutic horseback riding and hippotherapy lessons to children and adults with disabilities.  This therapeutic intervention under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist positively impacts the quality of life for those with cognitive, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical impairments. Since 2002 we have provided services using our team of horses and volunteers.

Brief Overview of Staffing: Our riding center currently is 100% volunteer based including our Maine-licensed Occupational Therapist and Licensed Therapeutic Riding Instructor. Assisted by up to forty volunteers weekly, our Therapist will provide therapy for patients with disabilities. She will also conduct follow-up coaching sessions with parents and caregivers. Overseen by our Therapist/Executive Director, volunteers also maintain our horses, barn, and other facilities.  We rely on private funding to continue our services and to expand our programs.  The fees charged for lessons are used to support the riding program.

Financial contributions and Event Fundraising are essential to our continued delivery of services.
